Day 169: Create a shelter of sorts…

There was a more long drawn out explanation, but that was the gist of it. In light of today’s events in my amazing town of Boston, MA juju reminded me of how much I love this city. Now, admittedly, I did not grow up in Boston proper; more like 1/2 an hour away, but I could always get in as needed. Thank you public transportation. I moved away for 6 years in my 20s but always knew I’d be back because Boston is home. It is my shelter. I feel safe and happy when I’m there. I adore the Prudential Center and the John Hancock Tower. I went to school in Boston and always loved the trip back into the city after school vacations. The sight of those two buildings signaled peace and quiet and coming back to where I was supposed to be. The explosions today were awful and traumatic and I am thankful that it was not worse. I could go on in so many different directions on topic of the bombs and what they could mean and what it does mean and so on. To what end, though.I will keep those there today in my heart, as well as the City I love dearly and identify as my home. My shelter. My favorite place in the world. It’s the place I choose to live (well, a suburb-ish of it…I’m off the red line, so it counts!), it is where I will raise my family. So here is my art for today:

Day 148: And just like that, off the wagon again.

So I was excited about today’s directive, work with only people materials, then this morning I was invited to paint night date night with a good friend! So between work and play I took a much needed napand chose to use my painting project as my creation for the evening. I used a lot of blue, which is half of purple so there is that… I looked when I got home and tomorrow I’m supposed to use all my utensils for my project. Yea, right. I am a married woman now (people like to give utensils as gifts, most of ’em we asked for), not a poor college student with 3 (plastic) utensils to my name. I have waaaay too many to be trying to pull out and play with. So, tomorrow I play with purple things. But tonight, I present you my painting of Castle Island in Boston, MA.
